Age Brackets

For the Fall Season, each child’s age will be based on their age as of September 1st of 2020. One COVID limitation impacts age brackets. Kids must be within the bracket that matches their age. Please note that brackets have been modified to meet buddy requests and remain COVID compliant We also made significant changes in the 5-7 Bracket initial rosters to group players closer in age. Coaches have the new rosters and will be contacting their teams throughout the week.

Please note these times remain the same all season.

The reasons for these changes are compelling. First, we were not using all the space we rented. Second, the hottest part of the day starts at 3pm. With coaches and staff required to wear masks at all times, things will get suffocating. Finally, in this format, teams within the same bracket are not required to play at the same time. Using this flexibility, we are able to get as many teams as possible on the fields at one time. I apologize if this causes any inconvenience. I am still learning the options with this new format. 😊

The field map is attached and will be posted at the field on Sunday. Weekly session format details will go out tomorrow. It will include specific COVID protocols and check-in procedures as well.

Season Schedule 

Here are the general dates for this season:

Season Format

  • Activities will contain standard drills and bracket specific activities each Sunday
  • Team structure:
    • Coaches select own team
    • Free agents will by assigned by SVFFL staff
    • Modified age brackets will be set
    • One bracket per player
  • Rule changes:
    • No flag pulling, pass defense, hand offs, direct snaps
    • Laterals allowed
    • No touchdowns, PATs
  • Scoring:
    • Skills – (This looks like it is going to be fun! LOL)
    • Consistency
    • Timing
    • Team average per week and for season
    • Individual average per week and for season
    • Top team and player per bracket awarded at end of season
  • Field set up:
    • Located at OSC
    • We will be on the north ends of Fields B and C so families can watch from San Pedro and Murphy
    • Fields will run east/west to provide similar proximity to normal game days
    • Size remains the same
    • Two teams per SVFFL field – One on each half
  • Equipment:
    • NFL FLAG equipment will include new sublimated jerseys, matching shorts and more (This stuff is REALLY cool!) – Please see attached file
      • Equipment will not be ordered until fee payment has been received (Sorry!)
      • Players can request favorite team jerseys
    • Each team will be issued three footballs for each session

We have set up a safe on the premises with envelopes and a pen. Please bring your payment to the restaurant, write your name and your child’s name on the envelope then drop it in the safe. You can send me an email to confirm delivery if you wish. I also encourage you to stay and sample the wine, food or beer in their outdoor beer garden. It is a fun place!

COVID Protocols – (Reminder) (Please see attached file for Santa Clara County Mandatory Directives)

  • Additional waiver required – Will be sent tomorrow
  • Health check upon entry – temperature, etc.
  • Masks, hand sanitizers and wipes will be available
  • Masks must be worn by spectators, staff and coaches
  • Six foot distance between players, coaches and staff at all times
  • Six foot distance between spectator non-family spectator groups
  • Team size limited to maximum of 10 players and two coaches
  • Teams must maintain separation
  • No spectators on field, space will be provided outside the facility on San Pedro and Murphy
  • No mixing of age groups
  • Kids can participate in only sport per season (Yuck!)

 Rain Out/Air Quality Policy (Reminder)

Rain outs are declared when field and/or weather conditions make it unsafe Given our late start each week, we have the opportunity to make our decision on Sunday morning. The best resource for Rain Out Status is 408-778-3900. Please call there for our Rain Out Message (Sundays after 9am only). We will play UNLESS the greeting says games are cancelled.
